I have an interest in and take inspiration from the symbols, rituals and ceremonies of various ancient peoples and the body of my artistic work reflects that. In each piece I try to show this influence while still retaining the organic integrity of the material, therefore much of my work includes both turned and unturned portions, providing a greater emotive range. I work in many species of burl as well as other highly figured and colored hardwoods. While I often include other material, both natural and synthetic, I always endeavor to use this biotic canvas in such a way that not only shows respect, but reveals to it's best advantage, the beauty of nature.
